We were proud to be a key partner in bringing the vision for the Mental Capacity Toolkit to life. Building on our long-standing relationship with Bournemouth University, we worked closely together to create a platform that was both in harmony with the broader brand and designed with the user in mind.
It was our aim to convert a chapter-based document into an intuitive, engaging experience which the user could easily navigate through and digest at their own pace. We’re thrilled that the toolkit has now supported the learning of over 800,000* health and social care professionals to date.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Lucy for many years, both during her time in academic research and through the creation of the Mental Capacity Toolkit with her company, Good Design Works. Lucy brings so much more than beautiful design – her background in research gives her a unique lens on content, accessibility, behavioural insight, and user experience that is rarely found in a design partner.
From concept through to delivery, Lucy played a pivotal role in steering, developing, building, and refining the toolkit. Her approach is bespoke, intuitive, and deeply thoughtful – every decision was anchored in clarity, accessibility, and real-world impact. The results speak for themselves: over 70,000 visitors and more than 800,000 user interactions to date.
Lucy is an epic person to work with. Her understanding of academic and public-sector challenges, combined with her creativity and strategic mind, make her a rare find.
